Christian Dior had named him as his successor. At age 21, when your mentor dies and gives you that responsibility I can only imagine the pressure and fears one would feel. He certainly did rise to the occasion.

It’s actually a beautiful photograph, but it’s of a completely valid and horrible industry that claims its fame from pretty stuff to wear built by underage workers in horrible working conditions just to appease the rich .
This is a shot into humanity. The loss of a mentor and friend isn’t the same as anguish for the loss of greatness in a terrible industry made to feel and look great from the worst elements that continue to depress and harm.
