this is some great cheese! when i lived in L.A. for years you could see that wicked, multi-wheeled, segmented vehicle from the 101 (i think?) through hollywood, parked at the car creator’s shop.

How anyone managed to talk the great Italian actress Dominque Sanda (The Garden of the Finzi Contini, The Conformist) into starring in this lame brain post-apocalyptic thriller is a mystery. Jack Smight, a director who is usually up to the challenge of directing gritty material seems to have met his match.

Back in 1977, this was one of only two sci-fi movies being distributed by 20th Century Fox at the time. They had all their confidence in this one, and put the majority of their advertising budget into it, because they felt it was going to be a major hit.

The other was Star Wars.
