Was sitting in a doctors waiting room alone with a tv on the other day. A mom roughly 40 and her teenage daughter came in and both started blasting videos. Between the tv and both phones I could no longer focus on the nice quiet book I was trying to read. Instead I sat there staring at them both and they neither had a clue. Selfish assholes

You can’t plug in headphones anymore because they removed the jack – and usb-c headphones aren’t nearly as common
I’m not excusing the behaviour. Especially since there’s also a correlation with increasingly poor manners. But it definitely hasn’t helped
It’s better than elderly men ogling at 14-16 yo girls doing dances in the middle of public transit, a sadly frequent experience I had when I conmuted by bus.

I was once in a waiting room for a few hours. Didn’t have my headphones and someone was playing conservative brainrot like Fox News the entire time. I wanted to hurt him so bad.
It makes me irrationally angry when people do this and keep doing it. Like, it triggers something primal in me.
Business employees and security need to start telling customers to turn it off or wear headphones, because if the complaint comes from another customer they will ignore it.
You cannot plug in your headphones. Apple took that privilege away from us!

There’s no regression going on here. America has always had a problem with entitled shitheads who think any public space they occupy is not only theirs, but that anybody telling them to be considerate is equitable to violation of human rights.

Plenty of cultures don’t have an expectation of silence/natural noise in public. Just something you have to get used to.
Public TikTok blasting should be illegal at this point, but also… life is hard so I kinda get it. Balance?
