Yes, but you save 20 to 30% if you buy before the looming tariffs, so there’s that.

Maybe. When I was much younger, there was a furniture store near us, and for Black Friday one year they meant to put up a sign that said HALF OFF ALL LIVING ROOMS, but they received and somehow, without noticing, put up a sign that said

Black Friday is always a rip off. There used be good deals a few years maybe a decade back, but now you actually get better deals closer to Christmas

Got my entire family’s Christmas gifts for the price of one PS5 game. Best. Deal. Ever.
Iโve always found Thanksgiving to be hypocritical. Putting aside the neglected role of the natives (and the war/genocide) in the Thanksgiving story, I have found itโs appalling that within 24 hours of claiming to be thankful for what you have people will go out to the store and fight with their neighbors to get that TV at 75% off. If you are truly thankful for what you have would you really need a day to remind you?

The idea was originally to shop during the sales for Christmas gifts that you would *already otherwise buy*, thus saving money in comparison to buying them at full price. That stops being feasible when nothing you’d actually care about getting as a gift for someone is really on sale though. It’s now just a way of companies trying to get rid of their backstock, rather than companies doing a short term volume based (rather than margin based) model, since the main downside of a volume based model with physical product is warehousing (and logistics of moving) the product.

Is Black Friday even a thing anymore? We have received almost no Black Friday mailers (when we used to be inundated with them) and I havenโt heard any news stories about crazy people lining up outside stores at 3am anymore.ย

Good savings with this strategy
