The Struggle is Real: How to Open a Stuck Spherical Lip Balm
We’ve all been there – you grab a new lip balm, excited to try it out, only to find that it’s stuck in its packaging. The sphere is too slippery, too small, or just plain stubbornly refuses to budge. Don’t worry, you’re not alone! Opening a stuck spherical lip balm can be frustrating, but fear not, we’re here to help you break free from the struggle.
Method 1: The Old-Fashioned Way – Heat it Up
One of the most common methods to open a stuck lip balm is to apply heat. You can use a hair dryer or a warm cloth to loosen the balm. Here’s how:
- Hold the lip balm in your hand, with the cap facing upwards.
- Apply the hair dryer or warm cloth to the cap, focusing on the area where the balm meets the packaging.
- Hold for about 10-15 seconds. The heat should help loosen the balm.
- Gently try to twist the cap off. It should now be easier to remove.
Method 2: Get a Grip with a Coin or a Key
This method is especially useful if the lip balm is still brand new and the packaging is still stiff.
- Locate the seam where the cap meets the packaging.
- Place a coin (preferably a quarter or a similar-sized coin) or a key on top of the cap, right on the seam.
- Gently twist the coin or key as you would be opening a can of soda. This should help dislodge the lip balm.
- Once the lip balm is loose, simply twist it off and voila! You’re ready to reap the benefits of your new lip balm.
Method 3: The Force, Be With You! (Or a Bit of Elbow Grease)
Sometimes, a little extra elbow grease is needed. Here’s how:
- Hold the lip balm vertically between your thumb and index finger, with the cap facing upwards.
- Place your other hand around the packaging, making sure your fingers are aligned with the cap.
- Use your fingers to apply gentle pressure, twisting and squeezing the packaging in a way that might seem counterintuitive. You’re essentially trying to create a ‘pop’ motion.
- With a bit of persistence and practice, the lip balm should release from its housing.
Conclusion
Opening a stuck spherical lip balm might be a minor inconvenience, but with these methods, you’ll be back to smooth, smooth lips in no time. Remember, patience is key, and a little creativity can go a long way. And if all else fails, you can always try asking a friend or family member for help – or just invest in a reusable travel-sized lip balm, ahahaha!
I have this spherical lip balm that is stuck closed. If you've never seen one, they have two plastic hemispheres which you rotate in opposite directions to open. This one is currently stuck shut and I don't know why. I’ve tried inserting a butter knife in between the two halves to give more separation, but it didn't work. Any suggestions?
