That is fucked up. Do they expect the elderly to just whip out their smart phones and use the Uber app as if they’ve grown up with it? This is blatantly bad service in any case.
I would have walked through the drive through, and expected them to service me, vehicle or not.

What about folks who can’t afford Uber? This policy is inconsiderate.

You can report to the state board of pharmacy, they will definitely not like this sign and restricting people’s access to their medication.

Contact your doctor’s office. Talk to a nurse, tell them that you have no way to get your medicine from this pharmacy & ask them to transfer it to a pharmacy nearby. It’s not super complicated for them to do and most will offer it before you even ask. Especially if this is a time sensitive medication.

Walgreen’s is an absolute clusterfuck of a company and deserves to go under. Them and CVS had single handedly made working retail pharmacy an absolute awful career choice and made being a pharmacy technician a job that will pay less than a McDonald’s supervisor. Chronically understaffed, underpaid, and over worked it’s no surprise they can’t keep anything open. I’m sorry for OP, just hope you have an alternative option to take your business to next time.

If you’re in the US, you should file a complaint with your state’s Pharmacy Commission (usually with the dept of health)

Am I the only one who didn’t know about drive thru pharmacies? What’s the point of it? Is that a US only thing, because I never saw anything of the sort where I live

If this is in the US, it’s very likely an ADA violation, which a phone call, on speakerphone, can likely take care of. They need to hear it so they go “oh fuck shit we’re going to be fined, possibly lose our/my license, and I might get fired”

I never understood why they don’t close the drive up window instead. At least that way people would mill around the store and buy more stuff.

Most Uber drivers wouldn’t do that besides the fact that according to Uber help going through drive thru are against terms of service

This happened during COVID. I worked an 18 hour shift and all I wanted was a burger meal from this local spot, since they were the only ones open at the time. I called to order for collection and they said I have to go through Uber Eats only. Unsurprisingly, the owner jacked up the prices like 3x then if I were to order in store.
Anyways, I ordered through Uber and I stood right outside the door to the restaurant. The driver pulls up after ten minutes, collects the order and I take it from him at the door. He was incredibly confused.
