1. Because Vinyls only have limited space and it was easier to fade out before the needle hits the inner loop as opposed to causing it to jump or drop potentially damaging it.
2. DJs would also have a much easier time mixing between two LPs with the fade rather than a hard cut.

I wonder how songs that end like this in recordings were to end in a live concert
