The system is working as intended, limit supply, inflate price for profit, lobby political poweres to get your way, enjoy profit. This is not new, a bland and simplistic explanation of a more nuanced systemic issue on my part but not new. We are here to serve the upper class, we are cattle give the illusion of choice and we have settled. Happy holidays, yall.

Let stop people from buying multiple and leasing them out at a higher margin for profit. Then there plenty and it’s affordable.

Every time I see new construction of small affordable homes, they get ripped apart as too basic and small. No one can be happy it seems

Part of the problem is at least when my wife and I were looking to build, no one was building houses under $500,000 and certainly not starter homes. They were building what was most profitable for them.

There is a shortage of affordable houses not owned and bought out by major corporations*. Headline is misleading. We have plenty of buildings and space. With malls going out, a neighboring city renovated a massive one into a homeless shelter. It’s been a great addition, especially with the cold winters we get.

Perhaps,
1. Build more.
2. Outlaw corporate ownership of single family homes.
3. Have a progressive real estate tax that discourages ownership of dozens of properties just to profit seek.
The answers are simple but old fucks wonโt be on board and this newer wave of sexless, pedantic, obnoxious chuds will also pretend that they feel strongly about opposing it..
