Spent an hour on my sister’s cake, and asked her to take it to the garage…

I think it would be funny if everyone gathered around that cake to sing happy birthday, just leave it there and put some candles in it

I hope your sister is not in tiers about this..

Due to all of the interaction (thank you all by the way!!) I’d like to let you all know that we made a new cake and things are all set for the party!

Sister has started joking about the situation and how she dropped a cake lol

This is the kind of situation where your initial reaction may be to blame the kid or even say something that makes them feel unnecessarily bad about an accident. You realize later that it was an accident and there could have been a better reaction to it.

I see this with adults and kids often but the adult rarely goes back and apologizes for over reacting.

Edits to add more Context:
the decorating alone took about an hour and bother her and I worked on it. The party is later today.

She is young (between 6-12) so I’m not too mad at her, I’m irritated with myself more than with her.

Just felt like sharing this unfortunate situation

Cut off the side that hit the ground and eat the rest. Immune building opportunity.

Anything not touching the ground is safe.

It is best that she was the one who dropped it.

Is it gross id probably try to salvage the top part that didn’t hit the floor just to eat some cake? Judge me

reminds me of the time we had set a large slab cake on top of the chest freezer in the basement and the younger sister of the birthday boy just lifted the lid of the freezer to get a popsicle and the cake fell behind the freezer…. she said she didn’t think it would fall….

….and I’ll never have that recipe agaaaaain~

Did you specify that it should be taken intact or that she shouldn’t drop it? If not, instructions unclear.

My ex husband once offered to carry the tin containing my dad’s birthday cake to the car. He was quite clumsy, so I said thank you but please do be careful. Five seconds later I heard the CLANG of the tin hitting the garden path -_- the only reason he’s still alive today is that it landed perfectly flat.

cut the part that hit the ground and eat the rest

It’s the dogs birthday now

Why are you taking a cake to the garage?

Happy birthday to the GROUND

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STANLEY

Clearly she hated it

Still a cake.. 5 seconds rule

“Dang, I guess it will just be ‘me’ eating all these ‘*garage floor cake*’ then? Right?”

*looks around the room hesitantly*

Well, it looks like it’s in the garage to me.

Oh no! I’m so sorry. I’m sure she appreciated the effort.

Top half still good 😁 grabs fork it’s go time!

It’s not fool proof, but next time a little icing between the plate and the cake can prevent the cake from just sliding off. The new cake looks great!

It’s mildly infuriating you asked a child that you say is between 6 and 12 carry an entire birthday cake from the kitchen to the garage, and then posted the results as if it was in any way the child’s fault.

As a fellow baker, my heart hurts for you. ❤️

Oh girl I feel your pain through this photo.

Hope you can all make it a funny family story, eventually. =)

Damn

If she didn’t wanna have her cake she could’ve at least just eaten it. Really went scorched earth on that idiom.

Mission Accomplished! Next?!

Man the cake looks really good, I _really_ like blue and green cakes
