More games need to do like the MCC where you have the option to toggle skins on or off.

I’ve just accepted that the primary market for shooters these days is middle school kids with access to mommy and daddy’s credit card. It’s obviously insanely profitable so it isn’t going to change. I just play other games now.

I recently switched over to Insurgency Sandstorm. I just can’t with CoD anymore. It’s just a fucking skins and pass store now and the gameplay is getting shiittier and less stable all the time. I’m done with it.

That’s because Milsim outfits all look too similar to the casual player base. The crazy skins stand out and are easily differentiated from the rest. Not a lot of people would notice slightly different camo colours and then what’s the point of buying those skins? Sucks, but that’s just how she be Yugi

Absolutely so fun in Fortnite, as the one FPS I play, with my friends, to goof around and have a great time. Totally get that it would ruin the vibe in COD 🤣

The target audience hasn’t changed, what that audience finds entertaining has.

It works in Fortnite because it’s inherently colorful. In games like CoD it’s much less on theme

i was sick of this as soon as skins hit Counterstrike.

the whole premise is elite professional specialists. it makes zero sense they have dayglo neon orange handguns and shit. it just ruined the game.

It’s painful watching so many games forcing other IPs in to their setting. I can’t tell how much is greed and how much is the developers having no faith in their own aesthetics and design

I like goofy shit as much as the next guy but it’s definitely out of hand.

WoW and FF14 are like this too. Although WoW has always had colourful missmatched gear.

ARR FF14 was realistic crafted gear and more fantastic looking raid gear. Now everyones in moogle suits, leapord print speedos and modern fashion

Honestly looking at CoD gamers makes me thankful the Descent isn’t as harsh on Destiny or For Honor. Sure the other issues are fucked still and you still have some degeneracy but it’s nowhere near the unicorn rainbow bundle packs of AC Valhalla on Day 1.

Honestly, I only hate this half the time. Some things lean into the cartoonish, but work better if not taken seriously anyways. Payday 2 didn’t remove the jank and unrealistic mechanics, it added shuriken and crossbows and rocket launchers.

I agree. It’s not *this* bad in Battlefield, but my sweet spot was Battlefield 4. It’s my shooter of choice. The illusion of immersion quickly fades when my squad mate is a duplicate of myself (or) shiny princess sparkles.

This made me think of Titans TV show, it went to shit on the second season 😆 it was so cool and dark the first one.

I hate that this is the reality we are in but the only realistic solution these companies MIGHT consider is sell us team skins so we don’t have to look at these ugly skins that not only take away my immersion, but they also confuse me at times because idk who the fucking enemy is.

It’s not often, but I get killed because I hesitate on whether or not I’m looking at an enemy. I can’t keep tabs on what all skins are my team or enemy players. Makes it hard to want to play. I want a military shooter, give me the opportunity to play the game I’m willing to give you money for. Make the option that lets me turn off the things that make me and many others hate the game. Or include themed skins that lets me do that. Include it with the season pass or whatever you need to do.
