I won’t be rude to the customer that arrives when we’re starting to close, I’ll smile politely and do my job, but inside I’ll be hating them and every generation of their family until they leave.

If restaurant owners heard a noise complaint, maybe they would do something about it

I wonder if it would change if it became common for restaurants to require that everybody stay an hour after close to do the cleanup and close out. I’ve worked in places where that’s the standard, and nobody really complained about the last-minute customer. This is not an issue if it was part of the agreed employment arrangement. If you’re going to be there anyway, it’s not that big of a deal.
