I’m hoping this cuts through all the Tina jokes, but seriously you did a good thing here. I’ve been looking for work and it’s looking like employers are trying to do away with overtime pay. Walk outs like this will be the only real tool to fight it for a lot of people.

Anyone who works on a holiday should get time and a half AND should get a paid holiday whether you work or not so in essence 2 1/2 times pay to work.

I once got suckered by my boss to leave my family during thanksgiving and come work at his store, cause it was busy and they needed staff.
So I went, worked it, did about 9 hours (from noon to 9), and my check was just a normal check with no additional loading.
I asked him how come I didn’t get public holiday pay, he said it was “because you picked up a shift, not rostered”. Later his wife forced him to pay me time and a half but I was still bitter about it.

I get 1.5x + $5 for holidays (to incentivize people to pick up holiday shifts, I guess, cuz all OT is already 1.5x)… should be 2x + $5 IMO but still a hell of a lot better than NOTHING.

I used to work at New-Pioneer Co-op in Iowa. Same fucking shit there too. The company is fantastic at pretending that “no one gets rich off the co-op” meanwhile the higher ups get vacation and benefits that the employees doing the most work don’t get. I remember seeing signs just like this at our stores.
I also find it funny that your store uses the EXACT same Co-op branding and logos that New Pioneer does. Shit apple doesn’t fall far from the shit-tree
