Is there a point to it though? A Minecraft sequel would need to innovate a lot to have a reason of being. I’m not seeing what they could improve that much that a dlc or an update wouldn’t cover.

No matter how good the game is, it’s gonna be shit. Minecraft was THE game, ever (literally the Nr1 best selling game ever). People are going to have super high expectations, and it’s never going to live up to those expectations. The chances that the same person makes the best game ever again, is practically 0

I’m pretty sure he legally can’t do that. He doesn’t own the IP anymore. I also question whether he would make a good game; you have to remember he hasn’t been doing much for the last ~ten years and I also suspect his unusual opinions might sneak their way into the game.
