It hasn’t officially started and I’m already exhausted
Sadly, the experiment seems to be resulting in a failure. My heart goes out to all of the men and women that gave their lives for it, and all of those who will never experience what it could’ve been.
How do you protect democracy when democracy put him in power? Would seem American democracy is a lost cause at this point.

I saw an ad for the upcoming inauguration on the Eagles game last night. It was quotes by several generally loved democrats, or president’s who would have been democrats in our time (Lincoln), and Trump. I looked at my husband and said, “Wtf was THAT?”. He responded with, they’re trying to rewrite the past year and make you seem crazy. Screen shot the crazy friends. We’re going to need the receipts.
I’m convinced there’s enough in-fighting that some bad things will happen but not the worse case scenario, I also may be huffing hopium

I’m unsure why folks seem to think the fight is still on.
GOP has all three branches and is circumventing Dem Filibuster, Trump, on day one, may even jail some representatives if they dissent.
Some dems have already singled they’ll play ball, to protect themselves from that threat.
The time to defend Democracy was 2024.

We lost the fight to protect democracy when we decided to let trump skate for jan 6th. That was the day democracy died.
I think that time might be passed. The Christian cultist zealots have won. We have to just leave and let them fail.

Fight for what with what? Dems don’t protect us and the GOP are all in. We lost in 2016. The battle for Democracy was lost with the Supreme Court and Biden’s inability to see the importance of prosecuting the traitor and expand the court when he had the chance and ability. It’s past over. The damage is done.
Protect it from what? People knew damn well what was at stake and still didn’t show up to vote. No one cares anymore. I don’t care anymore. There are no more guardrails left. Whatever happens next will be exactly what we deserve.
What’s left to protect, and how are we supposed to protect it? I’m not going to focus on “protecting democracy”, I’m just going to focus on protecting my family.

The middle- and low-income people will suffer the most under Trump 2.0. Prices will rise, and just existing will be a struggle. Sorry for being a doomsayer, but we already see what is going to happen. Project 2025 and rich are going to be a big factor in the coming Trump administration. Just waiting and seeing is nerve-racking.
