This shot was largely an accident — I originally intended to use it for a blue hour blend with the aurora photos I planned to take after the sky was fully dark, so Einhyrningur (‘unicorn’ in Icelandic) and the foreground wouldn’t be completely silhouetted. Since there was a bit less light than I wanted, I did a long exposure, which revealed the aurora and stars that couldn’t yet be seen with the naked eye, while also enhancing the colors of the sunset. Decided to make it a pano once I saw the results. I took it on my final night of my trip, and it ended up being my favorite shot.
Believe it or not, I didn’t increase the saturation here, just made highlight/shadow/contrast adjustments.
