I agree that allowing China to have the data is a bad idea but they’ve done nothing else…
There are two possible reasons
1. Fucking Octogenarians do not understand the internet at all.
2. The companies that will prosper from this pay these octogenarians.
It’s not about security. It never is.
If they were worried about that FB, Twatter, and Insta would also be banned.
The difference is, you can sue an American company. There’s no recourse for a foreign one.
I find the TikTok banned to be stupid and I don’t give a shit bout them getting my Data…
Selling it is objectively better for the economy
