Being an apathetic asshole seems to be a prerequisite to becoming a billionaire. It’s naive to think they’d suddenly change their stripes after attaining their wealth by exploiting others.
Even the charities they run are to a degree for self-serving purposes like tax writeoffs. There are a few exceptions, but most of them aren’t going to suddenly become compassionate and care about their fellow men after they become rich.

If he’d shown off his wealth doing these things, you all would still be equally as angry, simply saying “He thinks he can buy Good Boy Points with his money but we know what he really is”.

Not to defend Musk but at least he’s relatively young and his wealth has exploded in the last few years because of Tesla’s stock price. Donnie has claimed to be a billionaire for 40 to 50 years. All of his peers in New York have things named for them.
