Warmies: A Heartwarming Initiative That Needs Your Help
As the winter months approach, many of us are reminded of the importance of warmth and comfort. For some, however, the concept of warmth is a luxury they can only dream of. That’s where Warmies comes in – a non-profit organization dedicated to providing warmth and comfort to those in need.
Warmies is a grassroots initiative that aims to collect and distribute warm blankets, clothing, and other essential items to homeless shelters, hospitals, and disaster relief efforts. Founded by a group of compassionate individuals who have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of poverty and hardship, Warmies is a beacon of hope for those who are struggling to stay warm and safe.
The Need is Real
Unfortunately, the need for Warmies’ services is greater than ever. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, over 550,000 people experience homelessness on any given night in the United States. Many of these individuals are forced to live on the streets, without access to basic necessities like warm clothing and blankets.
In addition to homelessness, Warmies also serves hospitals and disaster relief efforts. Hospitals often struggle to provide adequate warmth to patients, particularly those who are critically ill or injured. Disaster relief efforts, meanwhile, often leave survivors without access to basic necessities like warm clothing and blankets.
How You Can Help
Warmies relies on the generosity of individuals and organizations to continue its vital work. Here are just a few ways you can help:
- Donate Warm Items: Warmies accepts donations of gently used or new warm blankets, clothing, and other essential items. You can drop off your donations at one of their designated locations or schedule a pickup.
- Volunteer Your Time: Warmies relies on volunteers to help sort and distribute donations, as well as assist with fundraising and outreach efforts. You can sign up to volunteer online or contact their office to learn more.
- Spread the Word: Help raise awareness about Warmies and its mission by sharing their story on social media, with friends and family, and through your community.
- Make a Financial Donation: Every dollar counts, and financial donations help Warmies purchase essential items and cover operational costs. You can make a secure online donation through their website.

Meet Slippers. He is a well-loved Warmies and I grabbed up with my daughter’s bedding and accidentally washed him (big no-no) and his stuffing is a disaster. My daughter is heartbroken since he is her absolute favorite. Does anyone know if I can do some kind of weighted stuffing transplant or any advice on how to “fix” his innards? She doesn’t rely on the warming, but does love the weight. Due to sentimental reasons, replacing him brings my 11 year old to tears so I’m reaching out to Reddit. If you know of a better/different sub to post in, I will happily do so.
