Done this with platonic friends too. Spent years talking to someone daily. She never initiated. Finally thought “hmmm. What happens if I stop?” Never heard from her again. It’s been seven years.

Relatable as hell. Same thing happened to me with a few so-called friends of mine.

I matched with someone on Hinge or whatever. After a couple of hours of sporadic messaging, I noticed that almost all of my messages ended in question marks, and none of hers did. When I asked her if she was going to ask me anything she accused me of being passive aggressive and insulted my dress sense. I said it wasn’t passive aggressive to want to have a two-way conversation, and then unmatched. Dumbass.

I’ve been texting daily with a girl but it got tiresome because I was always carrying the conversation. One day I just decided I would stop texting every time she left me on read until she answered again. It went from daily conversations to 3 messages every 5 days.

I used to speak to a lot of people but slowly realized I was being used by all of them as an emotional or other types of tissue paper. Now you could call me a loner but I’ve grown to enjoy my company.

At some point in your life, after many torturous years of being foolish, you learn to recognize and accept the friend zone. At that point you simply move on.

There’s a limit to where a man should set for himself. If I see that a woman shows no interest in forming a potential relationship, I won’t waste my time of trying too hard. I’ll just simply move on.

Exactly this. I was putting in all the effort to maintain the relationship. So I stopped.

Well I guess I would be the one never initiating conversations because I have no clue how or what to ask about. Or if they even want me to talk to them in the first place

Also, it should be men and women, or boys and girls, not men and girls. If women and boys sounds off, then the same should be true of the reverse.

Sometimes the juice doesn’t worth the squeeze, I’m not gonna hit myself in the balls and resume showing enthusiasm to finally getting friend zoned.

Maybe not a popular opinion, but I’ve always found this type of relationship test really icky. Like, you’ve established the expectation that you’re the one that initiates conversation. Don’t be surprised if they don’t initiate conversation, that’s been your job for x period of time. Have an adult conversation about how it makes you feel that you’re always the one initiating instead of playing selfish, childish “I’m going to go sit by myself and see who notices” kinds of games.
