We’re buying a family members house and it hasn’t been updated since the early 90s. We’re looking at painting our bedroom soon. It has this wallpaper stuff at the very top. When I went to remove it, the wall under has a different texture then the rest of the wall.
It’s about 6-8 inches in height. What is the best way to go about it? We’re painting it a blue color, would you be able to tell the texture is different or do we need to do something to make it look right?
Is it plaster walls and possibly the textured wall is textured wallpaper? (Been there, done that with my current home. It’s not fun.) I would suggest maybe finding a similar textured wallpaper, otherwise if it is plaster, ripping off wallpaper usually ends up in drywalling a room you didn’t plan to 😂
Or perhaps if it’s not too wide, a wide crown molding or leaving the top part white as like a “fake” crown molding.
You hate the texture? get one of those rotary sanding tools with a vacuum attached and a proper respirator so you don’t breath any of it in at all and just sand it all flat.
