If he’s a legal citizen, it takes like 2 seconds. If not, then it’s on them because they employed an illegal worker.

I would do what they do after transferring all the money out the account. I would conduct a thorough investigation and after coming to a conclusion 2 months later, I would tell them to file a claim that could take another month. Then I would tell it got lost and we have to start the process all over.

One time the company I worked for accidently paid everyone twice. Naturally I pulled the money out of my account immediately. Then the bank took the check amount back out of my account leaving me negative. Then charged me an overdraft fee before I could deposit the extra money back and charged me a transaction fee.

I had a case where I got way over paid. I was working part time as a 16 year old and for some reason our system put in a 40hr work week for the month. Instead of earning like 700 I got like 2000 I think. I had the option of taking a pay cut or them taking my entire check until the balance was paid back. I chose the latter in order to clear the debt. I still work for the company but I haven’t had anything like that happen.

I worked for Old Chicago under Craftworks LLC, and they accidently put the entire payroll account in one of my bartenders bank accounts – $2.4 million dollars (or something close to that). My bartender definitely called to make sure they fixed the error. Haha.

This happened to me once, it took them till Monday to take it all back out of my account. then I had to wait for them to do my normal check. I still was pissed the bank just gave it back without my consent, I figured I would need to transfer it or write a check, but nope.

I have a client who had a disgruntled IT worker. On his last day before quitting he used his super access (should never have had this much) to change everyone’s PTO balance to the maximum amount. It may not seem like a big deal, but that’s a LOT of money that is then technically owed to those employees. I think it took a significant amount of time to unwind and communicate to employees. What a mess.
