The car has a “paint protection film” that gives a rainbow effect through polarizing sunglasses.ย  The installer probably creased the film where it appears damaged.

Maybe Itโ€™s damaged like how sometimes you canโ€™t see the cracks in your phone screen unless you shine bright light on it

GR, cool car.

Special glasses that make other peopleโ€™s cars look slightly shittier.

What your probably seeing is a badly applied polarizing filter to the glass

Thatโ€™s bonkers. It looks dented.

“We have one that can see!”

It’s very surprising to see a GR Corolla on r/all. The ppf pattern isn’t the only interesting thing here…

That’s polarizing.

*Ba dum tss*

Those are stress points on the polarizing filter applied on the hood.

What the

polarized light can be used to make material stress and tension visible, you can see that effect on the headlights, the rainbow colors show stress areas from the injection molding process as the plastic cooled down, or somehow the paint job is messing with the polarization of the reflected light showing the distribution/orientaton of pigments in the paint

Thatโ€™s why they are using such things when examining cars – it allows to see some obvious crashed cars who were restored.

If you are concerned source a reflector line light or panel. PDR Line Board

Please tell this was in Los Angeles because it could be my car lmao

GR Yaris, my favorite cat of all time!

Polarized*. They have already been polarized. They are not in the act of polarizing. Wrong tense.
