So from the boomers in my life I got “There are too many black people” and “This is stupid and I don’t understand it”
I absolutely loved his halftime show. Kendrick is a great lyricist and should always be recognized for it.
Comments online made me feel like back in the days when Hip-Hop was starting to make noise and racist white people were trying to explain why they hated it, without sounding racist, but in fact it sounded even more racist.

Older white lady here, I don’t like football and refused to watch it this year. But I give Kendrick props for his performance and while he’s not my genre of music (I’m stuck in my 80s/90s alt phase), he’s damn talented and belongs on that stage. I’m so tired of these pathetic whiny racists brats.

I like to tell these people. Kendrick is a Pulitzer Prize winner… You know, the prize for literary, musical, journalist, etc excellence. It’s been considered one of if not the highest form of achievements in said category someone can win.
Only twenty three people win them annually from all around America- however any one of any nationally may win so long as you’re a permanent resident/America is your primary home.
So to say “Hurrr I didn’t understand it! I don’t get it I needed subtitles! It doesn’t make any sense!” Says a lot more about your media and literacy skills than it does Kendrick.
Sure you don’t have to like hiphop, that’s fine, it’s not for everyone. Some people don’t like rock, some don’t like country, etc. That’s valid.
But to act like you’re some smart big intellectual and not be able to decipher anything says more about you than anything else.

I’ve never been a fan of that genre of music. Hip-hop has always been rather hit or mostly miss for me. I think it might be the instrumentation choices, or maybe lyrics. It got me a lot of odd looks growing up… That said, I bet the half-time show was neat.

My food timer went off towards the end of the halftime show so I think I missed something as the presenter afterwards said something like “… there’s only one person in here who didn’t love that and that’s Donald Trump…”.
