That’s Sunny Murray, legendary jazz drummer and one of the most influential free jazz drummers of all time. OP your dad was a legend absolutely amazing music. There is a great documentary called Sunnys time now I really recommend! Do you happen to know the other musicians in the photo?

And under the definition of ‘Old School Cool’ this wonderful photograph will be RIGHT up there. This is my favourite image on here for quite some time.
