Is there some nuanced opinion about the state of the homeless in SF that we are missing or is the audience stupid?

not just SF, unfortunately. Also in San Jose and the city where i live. homeless on the freeways, sidewalks, abandoned rivers, etc. besides the high living prices, itโs the biggest issue for me personally

As someone who grew up in the bay, the homelessness/crime problem has gotten far worse than it was when I was a kid, but Iโd also say that the situation has been steadily improving over the past two years or so

There’s homeless in Cali because the weather is tolerable all year round. Homeless in cold states literally get bussed here so they don’t die in the snow during the winter. I don’t see how most people don’t get this.

San Francesco spent $852 million dollars on their homeless services in 2020-2021 which comes out to about $106,500 per homeless individual. This doesnโt include the resources from independent non-profits in the area which also serve the community. Money can’t solve this problem.

Legit, housing needs to be like an all you can eat buffet. No one gets seconds until everyone else has firsts.

Didnโt LA do this big homeless experiment spending 100s of millions on tiny home complexes for the homeless only for them to be ruined/destroyed in the first year?
If we donโt do something about mental health, housing solutions is just taxpayer money down the drain

lol SF has TRIED really fucking hard to help the homeless.
The amount of money this city spends on homeless programs is fucking insane. The problem is not โhomelessnessโโฆ the problem is an addiction and mental health one. Most of the homeless donโt want to be helpedโฆ if they go to a shelter or a facility they canโt continue to use.
Itโs an incredibly tough problem to solve but people in SF are fed up with it

They booing cuz thatโs an obvious talking point. Why donโt they ever say they need to fix poverty during big games where Alabama or Kentucky colleges are involved. If you gunna praise the city donโt add your shitty political slant

As crazy as he be most times about basketball topics, I always side with Barkley on socially conscious topics and ethics. Dudes a down to earth guy who grew up poor never forgot where he came from.
