Yikes… that’s lower then Ant Man and the Wasp Quantamania, Eternals and The Marvels while the same grade as Venom The Last Dance outside of the MCU
A list of things that Thunderbolts* needs to overcome:
* A cast of characters not well known by the GA besides Bucky.
* Coming off a movie that has the worst CinemaScore for an MCU movie.
* Thunderbolts* being connected to so many projects, just like the Marvels. Thunderbolts* requires you to watch FATWS, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
* There’s no big hook or novelty that you can sell. It would be Sentry, but who the fuck is Sentry.
* The trailers haven’t done gangbusters in terms of views compared to stuff like Superman and F4. The Super Bowl trailer couldn’t even crack the top 10 of the most engaged ads while the live action HTTYD did.
* A good portion of the GA will just wait for streaming since this is not an “event” movie.
Disaster, this won’t even reach the Eternals’ numbers WW

Well, things have already been looking grim for the last few days, but it’s completely official now. The first superhero flop of 2025 has arrived.
Never thought that, out of all the bad Marvel films released in the last few years, a Captain America film will be the worst-received. This is Dark Phoenix-levels of bad.

Man, my biggest concern with this movie was it will bomb and might hinder Thunderbolts BO even if the latter turned out to be pretty good.
And my fears are confirmed. Thunderbolts is fucked regardless of how good the movie ends up being
This is the same guy who’s supposed to lead Avengers Doomsday?

People gotta remember this. We don’t fall in love with the titles. Captain America? Iron Man? You can’t replace them cause we fell for Steve rogers and Tony Stark.
It’s not about mantles. It’s not about passing it forward.
Sometimes it can be. Every once in a while there’s a creed that works.
But more often than not the respect isn’t passed on.

Kevin Feige should have made an Avengers transition film in phase 4 to create a link and introduce the general public to his new heroes, now we’re going to Doomsday with no one caring about half the heroes and having to appeal to nostalgia
The comic book pop era is over. The only chance they have is to go back to the roots. Iron man the first one, original captain, dark knight even Batman begins. You need to build a story deep real and honest. The action crap non stop is dead. I think fantastic 4 is gonna flop, and I’m terrified because it’s my childhood but so is Superman.

I remember all the MCU Stan’s saying that all the behind the scenes drama was blown out of proportion… um, no. This movie has always been a mess behind the scenes. Wrong creative team, wrong star, wrong direction for the franchise.
Another mid/disappointing MCU flick that continues eroding the brand. And I’m not sure Thubderbolts is gonna get it back on track…
The Cinemascore is lower than any DCEU movie, even lower than *Batman v. Superman* (“B”). What a disaster.

I can’t believe how many reviewers said it’s unwatchable and just bad… I was watching the big picture and all three of them were like “not to be mean and cynical but this movie sucks” lmao. 18 writers in a movie, reshoots out the ass after leaks and zero juice from the trailer and marketing.
