I think it’s time to dump Wayne as a Canadian Icon or a paragon of Canadian Virtue. I would have said to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he has been entirely silent on all this talk of a 51st state. It can’t be that hard to make a statement that contradicts your golfing buddy’s position. Sidney Crosby now has the chance to become what Wayne once was.
That description barely scratches the surface. So many people are merely assholes, and it doesn’t really effect the world. Trump defies our ability to find sufficiently weighty pejoratives.
It’s well known knowledge Wayne Gretzky, like many sports GOATs is a piece of shit. Being rich and old this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Such a shame too, his dad was such an amazing man.

I remember when Gretzky stayed at a hotel in Denver when I was younger. A close friend of mine worked there and like a lot of big names and celebrities he used an alias on the books at the front desk. His was John Wayne. It still kills me that his secret alias was an even more famous person.

Why are so many athletes right wing assholes? They seem to mistake being talented at sports for being smart or good. When I was growing up in NYC one of my sports heroes was Mets pitcher Tom Seaver, and I also admired Buzz Aldrin, the second man to step on the moon, which I saw live on TV in school. Both turned out to be major Trumpies. Fuck them. They can keep their professional achievements but as human beings they’re monsters. Of course Seaver died of Alzheimer’s a few years back.
We liked his stupid creamy whiskey but won’t buy it anymore. Will have to find something else to pour on our French toast. Maybe just straight whiskey if things continue as they have been. Gretzky hasn’t been relevant for 30 years now anyway. Good luck everyone.
