People think that Ukraine can keep fighting the war forever on its own. The US will not put boots on the ground, and neither will any euro country without the US doing the same.
Therefore, there will need to be a deal struck. You can just throw your head in the sand and live in make believe land, but it’s not very helpful.
It’s mindblowing that nobody really cares that Trump is siding with our enemies against our allies. Consistently. He never speaks positively of Europe, but always positively of Russia. I’m very confused by Europeans on Reddit here blaming Trump for bringing this conflict to a close but not pissed off at America for provoking conflict with Russia for the last 30 years.
Europe is too bureaucratic for Trump’s liking. His worldview is that everything is a slimey competition, a world in which reason and empathy are non existent. Europe basically has two options here, follow America’s footsteps of increased authoritarianism and values that align with the states’, or become it’s own superpower. And it needs to do one of these, preferrably the second, and fast.
