I mean it’s kind of on skype for completely dropping the ball. They had a golden opportunity to market themselves as the solution and they squandered it.

My dad is 64. And I say this next as a testament to his lack of integrating technology. He refuses to get a cellphone, nevermind a smartphone. He rightly finds it all confusing.
But I got that MF to install and use discord. Thereโs hope!

I teach math to high schoolers. I had to do too much explaining to other teachers and parents that Discord is superior to zoom and it works better with webcam so students could see my handwriting. The reason zoom took off is partially due to old people being old people.

Microsoft acquired Skype which was a tech purchase used to create MS Teams.
Skype is definitely the winner, just not the Skype we all knew.

Webex or Microsoft teams are what they use not I think. No one uses Zoom anymore I think.

Who here remembers red Skype? (Pre smartphones). Logo was red. Video calling, chatting and sending files just worked properly. No ads, no bloat, it just worked. Lasted maybe a few months?
Then was never the same again.

Tried to get into Skype once back in the day. Heard there was a large community where people freely taught each other how to speak in different languages. Like a you teach me and I’ll teach you kinda thing. Got there and instead everyone was all like money money money. Literally defeating the only reason I even bothered trying the app to begin with. ๐
Never used it since.
