It looks cool though. It has its own style. I like it ๐คทโโ๏ธ

Ive experienced this as well. So is the solution to use long and short stitch? Because when I tried that, I ended up with small gaps everywhere, it didnโt look โsmoothโ. I probably need to work on my long & short technique, but I also wonder if thereโs a better filler stitch to use.

You mean you get a beautiful edgy arty piece that has movement and style?

i think doing a clean border around the plant/each colour block in the background (in either a similar or contrasting colour) would look really cool! but it still looks great as is, your stitches are really neat ๐

I really like what you did here. It looks like a kind of abstract interpretation, sort of Picasso meets Matisse or something. It may not have come out as you had imagined it should, but it came out looking as you see the world and it is very beautiful. A painting with thread.

For what itโs worth, I like it. Sure, itโs โimperfectโ by the standards of classic satin stitch. But who cares? I donโt think the Satin Stitch Patrol is gonna arrive and cart you away for a stint in Embroidery Lockup. ๐
I think the little gaps give it a nice sense of movement, gives your eye something to roam around on in the piece. The colors are nice, the composition is pleasing. You should hang it up with pride and own it as part of your learning journey.

The bane of my existence rn. My satin stitches will look good until something moves a little bit and then they all start to look wonky

The long satin stitch + the color choices gives it an abstract/expressionist kind of feel to me and I absolutely love it! Even if there are things you’d do differently next time around, I hope you feel great about this finished product โค๏ธ

I saw a quote once that said โsure, a bad technique may look bad. But do it again and again in different pieces of art and it becomes its own style.โ I think a few pieces in this style would look very chic together

Satin stitch = satan stitch
I like this though. It looks intentional and like a choice, not a mistake.

It reads well from a distance. Very chunky style, I like it. You could even weave between those stitches and add beads if you wanted to experiment

I sincerely cannot conceive of any other way for this to have turned out.
