LMAOOOOOOO

osx users are either the most tech illiterate people ever, or developers. There’s no in between

I use arch btw

it was posted in december, what was the end result?

First ever computer was a raspberry pi 400 and I’M NUEROTYPICAL I PROMISE (this is delusion)

99% of my office uses Apple computers and they are tech illiterate as fuck.

Windows at home, Mac at school (Millennial) growing up through the 90’s and 2000’s

Run a Dell with Ubuntu 20.04, a W11 VM and a MacBook Pro at home now

I put ubuntu on my laptop when I was 10 and I’ve never received an official autism diagnosis

True tech literacy is understanding the pros and cons of both and using mostly linux.

“discluded”. We are doomed.

Ngl I started with Macs then quickly realized how much better PCs could be, so when I was 14-15 I built my first pc and my god was it a game changer.

I hated being discluded more than being excluded.

Grew up on Mac, switched to Windows. Never going back to Mac.

Whooff

Discluded?? Seriously??

This guy is a liar, no one installs Linux until they have used Mac or Windows.

Is a generational thing. Your average Gen Z can operate a real computer only slightly better than a boomer. It’s basically millennial cursive.

First raspi at 9, Linux and web development at 11 😬

Hey, I’m not autistic! Just socially awkward and really stressed if things don’t go according to plan and don’t you dare randomly call me without having a meeting set up at least 24 hours in advance. But I’m not autistic!

We aren’t autistic. We are gamers.

Don’t tell her Mac OS has its roots in Linux… that might skew her question

That last comment 💀

I started on ZX81 at home. Then DOS at university. And GEM Desktop. Then MacOS. Then Solaris.

To me home is MacOS and a Unix command prompt.

LOL

LooL

Just one question: what is a discluded?

Grew up with Windows, switched to MacOS in college last year. Studying networking, so I certainly hope I’m not tech illiterate.

I use different ones. And I’ll never master even one. That makes me…?

I am not even a linux user and that hurt me.

Everything I know about computers started when I was forced to game on a Mac and forced to learn about software to get my stupid shitty Mac to run windows games.

So in a way my Mac made me better at computers because of how shitty it was lmao, i love that thing

I will never touch Mac, but I have tried LINUX a few times… takes a lot of time to get used to. Might try Linux again on my laptop. Anyone got a distro they recommend for someone who is VERY used to Windows 7, 10, 11?

We’re still doing OS wars in 2025, really?

Depending on how far back you go, you’ve kinda gotta break MacOS into two categories.

MacOS X – Usable by the tech illiterate and people in the middle, but also quite usable by developers who want that full-on *nix platform while still having end-user software support.

Classic MacOS – Usable by the tech illiterate with deep pockets, completely unusable by anyone else.

Targetting the knowers and truthers for the weak and meager.

Opera, anyone?

Lol she’s not wrong. I’m a data engineer though and have been using Linux only for clusters I ssu into though. Windows has been fine for everything else.

Also a study on the correlation between autism and Linux use

TIL autistic kids aren’t considered kids in these test results

All those childhood memories kind of blur together at this point. But I remember having to use c:/ prompts for everything before windows. Every kid in third grade knew how to boot their favorite games from the a:/ drive. I think age plays a portion too, because for people born in the 80’s and early 90’s I think that a lot of the tech was inherently less accessible and therefore required a hire degree of competency just to enjoy the basics.

Discluded ?? Is that a real word?

Hahaha

Sorry but when I had a Linux user say that Linux was (past tense like 1990’s to early 2000’s) easier to install than W11 is now I have to agree that there has to be a correlation somewhere.

I use my laptop without an OS. I write it every time I boot

For the general population macbooks are bought because they’re cool and easy. Historically a lot of plugins for video editing, music production and more technical IT stuff was windows first and didnt always have a mac equivalent or was more of a ballache to get it working. It was typical to bootcamp windows if you wanted that so it made sense to just buy a windows PC.

Oh god, thinking about it, I think she has a point there

Discluded? Discluded? Excluded, you, miserable iOS generation.

People who unironically insist on Linux for everything are certifiably autistic. Linux is great, but too complicated for the average person.
