Apps are designed to be more user friendly. I guarantee if your main source of interaction was from a tablet or your parents phone, you would be the same way. Compare a GUI from apps today to something twenty years ago. Most of our buttons have easily recognizable pictures or are colored in a way that we would figure out quickly versus back then you had to be able to read and understand the words in the app to have a chance of figuring things out.
