Next they’ll say using “good morning” in emails is unprofessional because it assumes people want to be awake

The only people I use them for or use them with me are other women in the office. I would use them all the time if I could, just because theyโre so silly. We all could use some more silliness in life.

I was an emoji hater until I started my new job with a big group teams chat, picking the perfect emoji to react to things with is an art form

I see. I apologize for my attempt at being friendly. I understand that is not welcome in this workplace. I will case all attempts at being friendly so as to not appear unprofessional in the future. Please accept my deepest, most sincere apology.

As someone who worked in various professional environments, it’s pretty common to see emojis. That person is just mean.

This is totally changing. I know executives who commonly throw emoticons, presumably because it makes the reader feel safer and more at ease

Itโs 2025, iโll use smiling emojiโs. Easier to covey emotion via text or emails. Sending them ๐๐ฅฒ๐๐๐ chain. Get wrecked Doug.

The smiley face is absolutely required in this context because you’re ordering someone to do something, but not rudely. There is no way to convey this in written text. You’d have to rewrite the whole sentence and it would become something that wouldn’t be the same as spoken word, which is what most DMs are written in the style of (by people under the age of 60).
