I can shit talk Elon all I want now that I don’t work at SpaceX but as someone who worked on Starship that number is so far removed from reality lmao, I’m POSITIVE starship as a PROGRAM doesn’t even hit that number. Elon is a dickhead but starship is dirt cheap especially to SLS which is the true waste of money.
And the press sounds absolutely giddy when they report the exploding rocket. Like it’s the fourth of July and there were pretty lights in the sky.
I mean I’m hating on Elon for being a piece of shit as much as anyone does. But that wasn’t a 20 billion rocket, and I’m fairly sure it wasn’t paid for in tax dollars, it’s a private company. Again I’m not defending him, I just don’t think that this is accurate in how it’s described. I mean he’s skimming from the government most likely, and shutting down anyone investigating him, but last time I checked, spacex was paying for their own research & development, and rockets. Except for the ones the government contracts to fly for them.
Elon’s sooo good at downsizing he needs a new source of income. He’s downsized Twitter to a fraction of its purchase price and now he’s done the same thing to Tesla. SapceX is his new top-up source of income.
Reminder that privatizing the rockets for Nasa is why there are astronauts still stranded at the space station.

I hate that Elon is the face behind space x. I honestly think a space program is important for us as a species and it sucks that Elon might drag that down with him on his quest to be the most disliked man alive.

What is the percentage of tax dollars to personal capital is SpaceX? Space exploration under full government control doesn’t have a very good track record. How many people have died due to SpaceX accidents? How many people have died due to NASA mistakes?
