as a former teacher, we unironically appreciate it so much

I always nodded and it made the teachers think I was a. Intelligent and b. Listening. Boy oh boy were they wrong

Ngl I do this all the time. Half the time I’ve got no idea what’s going on but atleast interacting with the teacher helps you learn

Thanks. You have no idea how much it helps as a lecturer, where you need to constantly read the room. COVID was the worst because of this. Seriously thanks to that one person in my early lectures that would leave their camera on and nod along while eating a bowl of cereal. Y’all know who you are.Â

Yup!! Similarly, during COVID, I would ALWAYS turn my camera on. Was I paying attention during every lecture? Not at all! But my professors really appreciated it and would often ask us to turn our cameras on so they wouldn’t have to stare at a bunch of blank screens. There were definitely times where I was the only one with my camera on & that was a bit scary sometimes but I quickly got over that.

we did that as a class. 30 kids were constantly nodding until the teacher snapped….

I did this, as well as sitting in the front row, and the professor assumed that I was actually a high achiever capable of stuff.
Made me feel even worse when I flunked out.

Majority of the time I do this because I genuinely agree with the points the teacher is making. It’s an automatic reaction of my body. But also, so they think I’m paying attention when I’m not

nooo not me tricking myself into being a good student because I feel bad that nobody answers the teachers questions to the class so I gotta step up even though im nervous…. but in order to know what the question is I have to listen to the lecture…. and to answer the question I have to be reading the material… and as long as I’m reading the material I might as well mark down the parts that seem relevant…

I did this recently during a presentation and the lady who was presenting gave me a pen and some candy to thank me. I hate that feeling of talking and no one hearing me, so I try my best not to let others feel that way
