When I was a kid, my mom would whip a sharpie out and write on anything and everything in our house. DVD cases, clothing tags, glass jars… plenty of things that did not to be “labeled.” I had this beautiful hand-stitched floral bag for my marble collection that I was super proud of, and one day I went to get it out it just had MARBLES written across the cloth in permanent marker. I had a meltdown and she could not understand why!

I had a set of canisters that had plastic seals around the lids, on the inside. They absorbed the smell of the coffee. If she’d already loaded these incorrectly, she may not have wanted to ‘contaminate’ the other one.

Usually those markers can be removed using isopropyl alcohol (the same stuff we used during COVID) or sometimes by overwriting with the same marker and wiping down while still wet.
I highly recommend switching the contents and removing the writing one day… and switching the positions 🙂

It’s to fool the Kitchen Gnomes. They mischievous creature that will swap things around in the kitchen, but if you do things like this, it’s less apparent where the “wrong” place is, and they’ll leave your kitchen alone.

This is actually hilarious. I love the capitalized and underlined ‘TEA’. Like she was exasperated at the point of writing this and was leaving a passive aggressive note to herself.
