What you have there is a domestic tabby – they can have spots, stripes or splodges on their belly. This is my Pedro – he has what are called mackerel stripes on his side and spots on his belly. They also come with ‘poach egg’ marking with is a bit like distorted concentric circles. Very pretty markings.

Check the tail. Bobcats have short tails, while domestic cats usually have long ones.
Your new friend looks like a domestic spotted tabby to me.

The paws and face say that is a regular domestic kitten. There are a number of spotted cat breeds and even non pure-breed DSH tabbies can lean into spots on the tummy (Egyptian Mau, Bengals and others)
[https://www.reddit.com/r/Eyebleach/comments/n3l7nj/baby_bobcat_looks_like_a_regular_kitten/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eyebleach/comments/n3l7nj/baby_bobcat_looks_like_a_regular_kitten/) this is more what a bob cat looks like as a kitten, their spots are not as defined on the body, short tails, wide noses. You can fairly easily tell them apart in the wild once they are more than a few weeks old and have their eyes open.
Not a bobcat
Keep it

If you return this kitten to the “wild” they will die.
Also, if this was indeed a bobcat (it is NOT) do NOT just return to the “wild” because it will also likely die

The paws of a small bobcat would be one of the many dead giveaways. This cat looks like their paws are the right size, if it was a bobcat, it would look as if the rest of the body had some catching up to do
My folks are half convinced a stray we picked up is a panther. If so i think panthers normally weigh more than 18 lbs after a couple of years.

Genuine questions If you have been convinced it’s a young bobcat. Why didn’t you post better photos of the cat for identification? And a photo that includes the cats tail.
Or information like your perception of its age?
For the rest of this I know the are called Bobcats not Bob cats and because of that it would be bobcat kitten. But in the same way I enjoy calling them Robert Feline I like calling the babies Bob kittens
You said small bob cat did you mean a small full grown bobcat or as in Bob kitten?
When you got this kitten I am sure you would have taken her to the vet right away for an assessment. Taking a new cat to you at the vet is pretty standard care and As money is tight for everyone these days and I am sure you would like to catch things early when they are cheaper to deal with. So the vet would have also told you it was a bob kitten.
If you or your parents refused vet care did you get a Microchip scan?. Did you talk to any shelters in your area. Wildlife carers or sanctuaries? Did you talk to your neighbors about kittens in the area? Did you talk to them about local Bobcats and kitten seen in your area? Have you seen a bob kitten before? Or searched photos online for comparison. For example the fur on a bob kitten is very different than on a DSH like that cat… It’s different then a DMH or even a DLH.
Have you looked at the size of that kitten’s feet and compared it to a bob kitten?
Did you know that most bobcats have 1 litter a year. And mating season mid winter. Bob kittens are born between April and June mean that last year kittens would be between. 9 and 11 months. Although it is not common on rare occasions, Bobcats can have a second litter a year. Between late August and early October, meaning that it’s not impossible that there could be 5-6 month old Bob kittens out there.
Here Are some pictures of young bobcats for you to view. Some of these are stock images and have water marks on them. I apologize. You still they show what a bobcat actually looks like *I can only post one photo so I will reply to this with the other two ?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76fe61446c888647c8587aecb549680ec4af808f
I am guessing your tiktoks about this cat Didn’t get enough attention
It’s 100% NOT a Bob cat. Tell your Dad that you’ll make him a friendly wager. If you take the cat to the vet and determine that it’s a regular house cat, he’ll pay the vet bill for shots and neutering. If it is a Bobcat, you’ll call the local zoo/wildlife sanctuary for advice on how to properly release it and follow their advice.
Also. Outdoor cats have a lifespan of 2-5 years and indoor cats have a lifespan of 10-15. Choose wisely and NEVER declaw them either!

That’s a domesticated kitten probably part Bengal. And that kitten if you released it into the wild, it wouldn’t be able to fend for itself. He is obviously comfortable with people he has imprinted on a person at some point.

That’s a regular cat
If we’re going by colour and markings to identify cats I have a baby panther laying on my bed. Better sleep with one eye open.
This is a baby bobcat, what you have is just a normal kitten with spots not a bobcat.
That is 100% guaranteed a domestic kitty cat. Please don’t put little one back on the street!
Paws would be much, much bigger on a bobcat. Also ear Tufts and probably mutton chops. Can 1000% promise that is a normal, baby, standard issue cat
Yes, you can return your dad to the wild.
That is a regular cat, my friend. Some cats have spotty bellies. Look at mine:
To be honest even the reference picture doesn’t look like a bobcat to me. Not that I’m a Bobcatologist or anything.
Call him/her bob/bobby the cat to forever rib your dad about it 🤣
That’s a regular, house cat my friend. Keep the cutie
Tabby cat with tabby tummy markings
Your dad just doesn’t want a cat. Please don’t release it back into the nature 🙂
Dad trying every excuse to not have a cat in the household
