As a prime minister, he was somewhat short-sighted. As a Canadian leader? He knows what we stand for.

Even if you disagreed with his policies, I don’t think anyone can deny how much Trudeau cares for his country and its citizens.

I think we all got caught up in how much of an ego we believed he had. To be clear, he did have an ego, but it seems we all forgot how much he loved our Country, regardless of his ego.
We’re sorry JT. Please try to enjoy your life now.

Imagine taking on the most important job in the country and it costs you your marriage, among other things. Last day on the job must be a big relief.

i think this is a beautiful, poignant picture. How could resigning NOT be an incredibly emotional moment for this man? Why is this always seen as weakness or a flaw? i just don’t get it.

This Canadian thinks he did a damn good job overall. Canada felt a lot more like Canada than it did under his insufferable predecessor. The people that constantly hate on him have clearly demonstrated that THEY are the ones that don’t understand real Canadian values. Your leadership and resolve through several big crises was an example for other leaders to follow. If an opportunity to buy you a good Canadian brew ever came up, I’d gladly take it. Cheers man!

It’s a good thing he’s crying. Gives you a glimpse of how much he actually cared for whatever reason. Unfortunately we will never understand what he had endured/experience. It’s easy for us to criticize him, but would we have done a better job in his shoes? 🇨🇦
I have disagreed a lot with what feels like almost everything Trudeau has done, but I am unhappy to have him resign in such a time. Stability is needed now and an election isn’t contributing to that.

God all these foreign bots with Adjective_Noun_Number accounts that are exactly one year old hating on a pro-west democratic leader. So strange that every account with that naming convention is a pro-Trump, pro-Racism account.

Canadians are going to reaaaaaaaaaaaaally regret getting rid of him. I understand there is governmental fatigue involved, and a want for change, but I think he was the right person to confront Donald Trump’s madness.

I have some very strong disagreements with many of the choices Trudeau made, but I still think that in 50 years, he’ll be considered one of the best. There’s a reason he was voted in 3 terms in a row. I was always proud of how he represented Canada on the world stage. I still remember when Trump was infamous for giving these off handshakes where he’d pull people off balance, and Trudeau never let himself get pulled around by that bully. I do think it’s time for someone else to have a go at it, but I sympathize with how he must be feeling. He gave his best years to this country and ended up despised by a not insignificant amount of Canadians.

As a Canadian, I never really understood the hate for this man. I thought he was a pretty good Prime Minister, especially during times of crisis he really stepped up to the plate. I think a lot of the problems our country has had would have happened either way no matter who was in power and he, unfortunately, got blamed for it. The economy in 2024 being a big one (even though to be honest I thought he did a decent job managing that too). I guess my biggest complaint was he got too caught up and was quite stubborn when it came to his liberal ideologies, which weren’t necessarily a bad thing but I think it worked to his detriment especially when people thought they were frivolous things to focus on. Especially as the pendulum had begun to swing back towards the right globally, it maybe made him feel a bit out of touch to a lot of people. At the end of the day, I do believe he always put the country first and always had our best interests at heart. He represented Canada well on the world stage and he knew and stuck to our core values well.
