This comparison has always annoyed me.

My house in California was solidly built (not โ€˜cardboardโ€™) but still collapsed when the earthquakes hit. The people with โ€˜cardboardโ€™ houses had an easier/cheaper time repairing/rebuilding.

When we moved to NNY, you couldnโ€™t find stucko/concrete built houses because the drastic temperature changes caused so much shifting/constricting in the building materials.

My cousins house in tornado alley wouldโ€™ve been more expensive to rebuild after the monster tornado ate it. (And even built solid, it still wouldโ€™ve been destroyed.)

Could we build our houses more solid and like European houses? Sure. Could they withstand all the crap Mother Nature throws at us in all the different regions? No. And even if we found a way to make it work, 90% of the people in the US wouldnโ€™t be able to afford it anyways.

There’s plasterboard in Europe too, I fit it all the time.

Who saw the video of joe wicks breaking his wall

They hit their family instead. In America they get a warning and a reminder.

You see, it makes sense in the US that the walls are like that because thereโ€™s more โ€œhouse destroyingโ€ events like tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, etc. Walls like that are faster to build and repair.

Needless to say, why do you feel the need to punch your own walls? Canโ€™t you just channel your anger in healthy ways?

You forgot India, and most of South and Southeast Asia!!

Popcorn ceilings are ass-ugly and a crime against architecture.

Doesn’t Japan also build their houses out of toothpicks like the us does? I remember seeing a video about it, and it shocked me

You have thick walls, oooooooh. We have AR15’s, baby! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿฆ…

Homes are only as secure as legally required so we can claim forced entry after we shoot intruders.ย

Ah, yes. Wall punching. Why is this such an important feature in Europe? Have you tried yoga? Meditation?

Sure, those European walls will survive a punch, but will they survive any natural disaster? No. Will they cost more than that American wall? Yes. Also, those European walls come with a neat feature, during the summer they’ll turn your home into a death trap. Prepare to get heat stroke in a home with no AC unit.

Not just Europeans and Latin Americans but pretty much most of the world.

I’m already itchy

You know that doesn’t add anything or take away.

Then why do people want to come here so bad?
