I’m Gen X… a lot of people my age seem to be on this bandwagon. I don’t get it. If you’re young, you might find this hard to believe, but we weren’t like this 20 years ago.
The algorithms have replaced broadcast news. The news used to be neutral (mostly).
Now, conservatives & liberals consume completely different content.
I spent some time consuming conservative media after the election to try to figure out why Harris didn’t win.
What I saw was completely different content. Different sets of facts.
A different election.
Trump gained popular votes in every demo & every geo in the 2024 election.
What I believe is that Trump voters voted for someone, while Harris voters voted against someone. Both the same guy.
“Voting For” almost always beats “Voting against”.
The left needs to stop focusing on bad things someone else does, & start building a platform of what they stand for.

This is intensely dehumanizing and racist.
I am white and married to a Latino man, and we have two beautiful children. I don’t talk to most of my mothers side of the family at all now because they couldn’t get heir shit together and act normal and decent towards my husband. They couldn’t stop talking about how great it is that my children came out light skinned like me instead of darker like their father. They couldn’t show basic respect. They are racists, couldn’t even hide it, and so my happy little family will not be spending time with them. They can cry about it if they want but if they were decent people they wouldn’t have made the first person of color to ever marry into our family feel so uncomfortable. And my husband is really not one to be looking to get insulted, but they were off the chain. Something about him being married in made them feel safe to say worse and worse things I guess.
This is just to tell you that you are well within your rights and not overreacting. You deserve respect and for the people in your own family to not perpetuate vile racism right in your face. Not overreacting at ALL. I hope your Mexican family is safe and well, and can eventually heal from the high level of stress Latinos are enduring in the USA right now.

God Bless America. If you’re upset about raids, are here illegal and fly the flag of the country you don’t want to go back to, you don’t want to be an American citizen. I’d have more sympathy for the ones that fly the flag of the country they actually want to stay in. I don’t care where you come from, show that you want to be a patriot. The whole point of you wanting to renounce citizenship in a different country is to support the one you’re in. Wave the American flag to become the proud person you want others to see you as.
