The image is very misleading. They actually aren’t that similar. That specific longitudinal section of the elephant’s foot at that specific angle compared to an X-ray of the human foot gives the illusion that they’re similar. If you compare X-ray to X-ray instead you can see all the structures and notice they’re quite different.
There’s a human in that elephant.
