There’s a ton of Hollywood Manson connections. The home at Cielo Drive where Sharon Tate and her friends were murdered was originally rented by a record producer named Terry Melcher—who also happened to be the son of Doris Day. Manson had been somewhat encouraged in his music ‘career’ by Melcher and Dennis Wilson of The Beach Boys, so when he sent his Family back to murder people on that August night in 1969, Melcher’s house was very specifically their target.
Unfortunately by then, Melcher and his then-girlfriend Candace Bergen (later star of Murphy Brown) had moved out and Tate and Polanski had moved in.
There’s an incredible podcast series called You Must Remember This all about old Hollywood that covers the Manson murders in a multi-episode season and it’s one of the most detailed information sources I’ve ever found about that time period and all the various Family connections, let alone Manson himself. Highly recommend it!

I saw Angela Lansbury while she was filming an episode of Murder She Wrote. In Ireland. I’m not Irish mind you. I was just visiting from the states and happened to be at the same time.
I was with a friend walking in some town and there were all these film crews around, and Angela Lansbury comes walking down the middle of the street. She was filming the episode “Nan’s Ghost”, I later found out. And Charles Manson was not there.
Remember when murder she wrote went to Ireland? Truly a awful era.
