It’s unbelievable that civilian airliners can be mistaken in this age. The flight paths are public and easily accessible. A radar signature from an airliner is huge and not stealthy at all. The thing is a reflective metal tube-the fundamental opposite of radar stealth. And an Infrared missile requires visuals as the seekers and missiles are not as long range.

The Israeli iron dome uses the public data and is constantly mapping out where passive aircraft are and has region around them in a 3D space where it will not attack, and it works fantastic! There’s videos from planes flying over Israel as rocket strikes are occurring, and the iron dome shooting down the rockets.
