I don’t need photo realism. I just need fun games, great battery life and that oh so shiny Nintendo polish.
Switch 2 gonna be fire. Maybe Game Freak will wake the fck up and make an actually decent looking Pokรฉmon game. I can’t believe Tears of the Kingdom and Scarlet/Violet are on the same console…

Wasnโt the original switch โunderpoweredโ as well? Itโs an awesome console. I expect the 2 to rock as well.

Kind of off topic, but what does that actually mean in terms of output? Current gen consoles can only manage 1440p upscaled to 4K at 30fps.

My problems with the lack of power :
1. Not just my problem, but mostly the problem of third party devs. Lack of power compared to the competition is part of what fucked the Wii U, and part of what fucks the Xbox Series S. No third party games means dead hardware
2. If it starts already vastly outdated, what will games run like in 5, 8 years?
3. I couldn’t bear the framerate and stutters in some major Switch games from 2-3 years ago, and I pretty much stopped using it since. I am fine with lower res, lower poly etc, but I need constant, high-enough framerate above all else. I’m not asking for 60fps, even a stable 30 would be good enough. My point is, if it can’t handle 30 fps on third party games from early release, no way it will last with decent performances later

Just to be clear, pretty much all nintendo consoles are underpowered compared to their competitors. The trade off is that:
A) They are much more affordable
B) They are sturdy and very rarely have technical/hardware issues (Joycon drift being a rare exception)
C) Nintendo is very good at getting the most out of their hardware. Mostly because they prioritize fun gameplay and polish over flashy graphics.

For me the biggest turn off is the joycon drift issues.
I just cannot bring myself to buy a product with known issues in the very hardware you use for input.
Aside from that the games are expensive, dome may disagree but buying a steam deck with some games that go on sale seems much more appealing to me knowing i also get to upgrade my steam deck if i want to.
Don’t get me wrong tho, i’d love to own mario cart and super smash, but damn.
The joycons btw, while they sell controller like alternatives, are too damn small for my large hands.
So ergonomics also plays a role in this.

As powerful as a ps4 is at least believable. No way it’s as powerful as a ps4 pro and a hand held if Nintendo is making it.

PS4 pro performance in a handheld is actually pretty insane if you think about it. I don’t see the problem

Okay lemme break this down: GBA = SNES power and that’s okay. Switch 2 = PS4 Pro power and that’s also okay? The switch barely counts as a handheld to begin with

I don’t really care how powerful a console is since the games designed for it are designed around the hardware
Although I guess you might have issues with stuff ported over from PC

There is no way they are making a handheld as powerful as the ps4 pro.
When the switch was coming out many outlets also “leaked” that it would be on par with ps4 .
I predict it will be 1080p 60fps at best and maybe docked 2k? The thing is that dpi matters more in handheld mode so it doesnt need to be 4k for the same quality.
Comparing to phones that cost $1000 will only do around 2k with 90fps

People have gotten spoiled with graphics. I started gaming on the NES and Gameboy. Back then you played the same half dozen games 1,000 times even though you could beat them in a few hours or less because games were expensive. You played games because they were fun and if it looked good it was a bonus. The only reason I waited forever to get a Switch is because I already had a system that played all but a few of the games I wanted. I will probably wait on the Switch2, no matter its specs, until there are enough exclusive games on it that make it worth while.
