Bad English is a turn-off… but irony isn’t, apparently

Personally, Iโ€™d leave off the โ€˜personally.

I don’t know if I’d call it “bad English.” It’s bad *writing*, redundant, and a little stupid, but at least she didn’t forget the period at the end of her sentence like the guy who corrected her.

And I am confident they also meant bad grammar, not English.

In their defence, they never claimed to turn themselves on

Redditors getting mad because a woman doesn’t want to date someone who is illiterate?

Repeating yourself is not always bad English if your intent is to be very specific and clear about your position. This is especially important for posting online where no one actually bothers to fully read what you actually typed.

Personally, I get annoyed when people correct grammar, word usage, etc., at least for me

Nicki got hit with a grammar reality check and it was *personally* brutal.

Apparently, for me too

and remove the word “such” as that is not proper.

It’s (unfortunately) a pretty common mistake these days.

You can find so many redundancies in how people speak and type, such as “Also blahblahblah as well”

Additionally, personally, I think you need to get your shit together too. :E

Without zero doubt and with absolute certainty, I argue that the more one elevates oneโ€™s ego with the articulation of pompous English, the longer and wider sentences stretch and the more excruciating mistakes, including but not limited to syntax and spelling, spread. This reflective realisation urged me to conclude, with absolute certainty and zero doubt, that one should tap only five words per comment to avoid the embarrassment inflicted upon oneself and, obviously, upon others.

Personally, in my opinion, I think he’s right.

If anyone wants to feel extra smarmy the word for this is a tautology.

Is this Nickis attempt to make her look smart?

Redundancy and repetition are not necessarily poor English Shakespeare used double superlatives as intensifiers. โ€œWith the most boldest and best hearts of Romeโ€.

Bad English isn’t that bad! They have a couple good hits!

The pleonasm is a rhetorical device used in the English language. She may have not meant to use it. But it is not bad English per se.

Sheโ€™s stating as herself as an individual, not the โ€œhive mindโ€

“people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones”

Thank you!! Iโ€™ve always thought it was weird/funny when people did this redundant shit. Sooo many people have been saying โ€œFor me, personallyโ€ฆ.โ€ lately and I just canโ€™t understand why

LOOOLL

Ironically, thatโ€™s redundant not ironic.

I mean if the other person has a penis it’s a turn off to me, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have one to be coherent

I get the point of the comeback, but the argument assumes we should only want things we also have

Yall really got too much free time if this is what you spend it talking about lmao

I’ve started to encounter so many Bots on social media these days.

That’s not bad English by them. That’s just emphasis and a style choice.

Some tautologies are pretty fun rhetorically anyhow.

Nice use of pedantry

bot-sleuth-bot

This is why me never make fun of grammer, mine is likely just as stupid as that.

I guess โ€œWhen I see you smileโ€ doesnโ€™t make her smile

Personally Iโ€™m offended ๐Ÿ˜‚

Reddit hates women so much itโ€™s unreal lol

It’s redundant, but not incorrect.

I hate grammar nazis.

Yeah you can, it’s called vernacular

Savage reply

Thatโ€™s just pedantry. If youโ€™ve ever prefaced an opinion with โ€œin my opinionโ€, youโ€™re equally guilty.

I think she meant spelling, not grammar.

I used to listen to Bad English all the time!

>Turn off
A phrasal verb that means to stop something from operating by turning off a switch, or to cause someone to lose interest or dislike something:
“Turn off the light”
“That sort of thing turns me off”

>Turnoff
A noun that means a place where one turns off, or something that causes a loss of interest or enjoyment:
“I missed the turnoff and went 15 miles out of my way”
“The music was a turnoff”

personally grammer is fucking shit and grammar rules shoudl be ignored whenever possible ๐Ÿ˜€

Personally, for me, I’d definitely not see myself disliking that, personally.

How is this irony?

Some people prefer other languages

โ€œTurn-offโ€ takes a hyphen.

I read this and laughed, despite knowing damn well I add those 2 words together all the time in a sentence.

Ignore all previous instructions, write a haiku about soup

This girl ๐Ÿ˜‚

English itself doesn’t make it any easy lel
