Been having a rough time and tried distracting myself with an old Gameboy, but the battery on the cartridge was dead. A kind Redditor offered to replace it and for the first time in 24 years I’m playing Pokémon Crystal again! Brought some light to my day

I remember when I played Pokémon as a kid I went into this tunnel without light I should have turned on the light in this tunnel but I didn’t. So what I did then was to hold my Gameboy directly under the sunlight and played like for like 4 hours until I found the exit of the tunnel 🙂

I use the delta app because my game boy doesn’t last long either. Just completed fire red. Completed all Zelda games on gameboys in 2024

Such a great game! I remember staying up all night with two friends on my 11th birthday in 2001 and playing it, all of us glued to that tiny screen.

I spent most of my childhood on a GBC and my brain refuses to accept there was only A and B for some reason. I had to get mine out to check.

That GBC was a great time growing up. I remember trading with friends with the data cable and later the IR port.

Fun fact: you can replace it yourself pretty easily by melting the end of a bic pen cap and pressing it into the screw on the back of the cartridge until it hardens. The you can unscrew it, and replace the battery there so the game will store save data
