Before & after photos of NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams. They both looked gaunt, pale, and much older than before after spending 286 days in space. After exiting the capsule, both astronauts were immediately taken for medical evaluations on stretchers.
The hair salon on the ISS leaves a lot to be desired.

She looks like her hair grew in (no dye) and the first pic is terribly fuzzy so you can’t make out skin details.
Dude just looks paler to me, must have forgotten his tanning lotion up there.

ALL astronauts are taken to medical evaluation on stretchers. It’s not because of their long stay in space, or because they weren’t prepared. It’s standard procedure.
Edit: What i wanted to convey is; Nothing about this situation makes those astronauts victims or stranded. They stayed longer than initialy planed for safety reasons, but they were never in danger.

“Taken on strechers.” Yeah, every astronaut is. After spending much time in space and zero gravity, you lose mussle mass in your legs necessary for walking. This is temporary, and everyone recorvers.

Let’s fix the narrative…”Heavily decorated astronaut returns home after months in command of an international space station”
I’m bald, so I have no skin in the game (no pun intended)… but after all of this scientist’s accomplishments, y’all want to talk crap because of hair colour?

Now do the other two guys that came back with them that were up there for 6 months. Weren’t they also taken away on stretchers for medical evaluation. Isn’t it that standard procedure.

Sensationalist and uninformed title. Every Astronaut is taken for medical examination on a stretcher after being in space. They look well fed and happy to be home. It’s not like you get a sun tan and face lift at the ISS.

Taking them on stretchers is standard practice for anyone whose been in space for an extended period of time.

Well, no gravity changes the body in many forms, one of them is the loss of muscle mass, and the radiation may disrupt DNA and skin health.
But I am no expert on the subject.

Itโs amazing how much grey hair ages you. Mine are coming in faster and faster and if I go longer than 8 weeks before getting to the salon I look in the mirror and see an old woman.

Your misleading title for karma shock value is exactly what makes the internet divisive. You are the problem.
Itโs standard procedure for all astronauts off to go on stretchers for medical eval on exit, regardless of their condition. You worded it to sound much worse.
A majority of Redditors will just read a title, form an opinion and move on. Now theyโre forming a false opinion.

Conservatives want DOGE to make *billions* in cuts to NASA while complaining that Biden didn’t spend $140M to get them back from space immediately. They knew if Boeing failed then they would have to stay longer and they made no objection to that. If they’re willing to stay longer and they had no emergency medical issues then why would it have been so necessary to bring them home immediately?
The stretcher is standard for astronauts upon landing and she didn’t get to die her hair. OP is blowing what happened out of proportion.

Apparently according to NASA’s website now Suni Williams holds the third (including Cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko; for US astronauts she holds the second most) most cumulative days in space, holding a total of 608 days in space. If they were just there for the planned 8 days, she would not be near that position. I wonder if she’ll go on another trip to break the record lol.
