Sure was. VisiCalc was very popular before Excel. And we all had calculators on our desks since the mid 60’s. First they were mechanical tabulators, so to multiply 6 X 4 you had to press the “6” digit then hit the lever four times. In about 1974, TI brought out a basic digital calculator. I paid $250 for a used one from my neighbor.
