Only certain Rolex’s are worth buying for the purpose of communicating power and status, and they aren’t the cheap ones, we are talking stuff like Submariners, same deal with Rolex’s that appreciate in value, a Rolex that nobody wants now is still going to be a Rolex that nobody wants 19 years from now.
You also can’t really wear a watch as a daily driver if you want it to appreciate in value either, same as basically any kind of collectible, it’s not worth top dollar anymore once you take it out of the packaging.
I’ve got better things to drop 4 grand on right now than an expensive watch, like a scan tool for doing diagnostics on heavy equipment. My Casio G-shock works just fine for what I do right now.

Anyone who has enough money to buy a Rolex but has a brain bigger than their bell-end doesnt buy a Rolex anyway. If they want cool, they buy an Omega. If they want flash, they buy a Patek Phillipe. Rolexes are the default blank setting in create a character mode.

Why would I need an expensive watch anyway? I like to check time on my phone and if you buy a watch ONLY for looks, there’s a problem with you. It’s like buying a $1000 coffee machine and not using it, because it looks cool on your kitchen counter.
to be honest I would rather have a nice watch I can actually enjoy rather than shitcoins or stocks I have to constantly manage. But I still wouldn’t buy it if I couldn’t afford it.
