Time to actually shut it down instead of pretending like we made any sort of progress.
Protests need to be backed up by a demand and backed up with real life ramifications.
If you won’t support a general strike or hitting the oligarchs in their pocket books, what good are you?

Good news the coup looks like (at the time or writing) to have failed pretty miserably at was shot down by everyone else in South Korea (not even his own political party supported it)
There isn’t anything fully confirmed yet but it looks like the South Korea president neglected to ask the (checks notes) the millitary for permission before attempting to do an millitary coup
Something that, experts believe, is quite important if you want to do an millitary coup. So that happened
Edit
So new reports say that maybe the coup isn’t off yet, as the millitary (or some in the millitary) say they won’t back down despite the parliment voting to make null the martial law
Very mixed reports, this is still breaking news
There are also big protests in South Korea now against the decision so now fucking idea what will happen there

Ok. Call me crazy, I certainly think what I’m about to say sounds like a conspiracy theory (it is).
I think world leaders the world over are aware of the coming climate crisis and they are amassing power and trying to control more so that they (the rich/people in positions of power) will be fine regardless of what happens to the rest of us. That’s why we’re seeing so many nations starting to steer away from Democracies.
Again. I know how it sounds

This is actually very funny, because the South Korean parliament also just voted to repeal the martial law. 190-0. This attempted coup lasted for 1 Amazon bathroom break.

Donald Trump is the human embodiment of unchecked narcissism, a festering ego masquerading as a man. His existence revolves around a grotesque addiction to attention, like a moth to the flame of his own self-importance. Every word he utters, every action he takes, reeks of desperation to remain relevant in a world that would rather forget him. He thrives on chaos, sowing division and hatred wherever he goes, feeding on the misery of others like a leech draining its host. He isn’t a leader; he’s a glorified con artist who conned his way into the highest office, only to expose himself as incompetent, petty, and woefully out of his depth.
His “business acumen” is a laughable façade—a string of bankruptcies, failed ventures, and lawsuits stretching back decades. The man who markets himself as a “successful billionaire” is nothing more than a spoiled rich kid who squandered his inheritance while playing pretend on reality TV. Trump Airlines? Grounded. Trump University? A scam. Trump steaks? Tasteless, much like the man himself. His empire is built on smoke and mirrors, a house of cards propped up by sycophants and enablers who fear his Twitter tantrums more than they respect him. Behind every gaudy gold-plated surface lies rot, incompetence, and a profound lack of substance.
Morally, Trump is a wasteland, a man devoid of empathy, compassion, or integrity. He mocks the disabled, incites violence, and spews racist rhetoric without a hint of shame. His view of women is archaic and repulsive, treating them as objects to be rated, ridiculed, or discarded. He exploits the fears and prejudices of his base, not to uplift them, but to manipulate and use them as pawns in his game of self-aggrandizement. To him, human beings are tools—useful only as long as they serve his interests, discarded the moment they don’t.
At his core, Donald Trump is a coward. He hides behind bluster and bravado, terrified of being exposed for what he truly is: a small, insecure man desperately clinging to the illusion of power. He cannot handle criticism, lashing out like a petulant child at anyone who dares to challenge him. He demands loyalty but gives none in return, betraying allies and advisors without a second thought. His legacy will not be one of greatness but of disgrace—a cautionary tale of what happens when a nation allows a charlatan, devoid of morals or competence, to ascend to power. And history will remember him not as a hero or a visionary, but as a cautionary footnote: the man who stained the presidency with his ineptitude, hatred, and lies.

If you don’t think what happened in SK can possibly happen here, you’re delusional.
This is the world we live in now. Even if you never thought it could be, it is.
America elected a leader who’s greed will never be satisfied. Make no mistake, he wants ALL the money and ALL the power. If the military backs him without dissent, he’ll get it, too.
South Korea’s president just showed him the way. God help us.

Do not be surprised to see SK fall into conflict with NK, given the rumors NK troops are involved in the Russian / Ukrainian war.
It’s also worth noting Zelensky cancelled elections in Ukraine and is currently in office well past the end of his term. At the end of the day, what the people want really does not matter.
I hope I’m wrong. But we are slowly but surely being pushed into WWIII. The middle east, Russia, now potentially NK/SK, and then probably China and Taiwan.

For those of you just tuning into South Korean politics, by my metrics its one of the most functional democracies on the globe. Yes, headline grabbing stuff happens pretty often there, like presidents trying things, and the legislative bodies impeaching the president. Also the own of the largest company is hooked up to machines to keep him technically and legally speaking alive forever just to avoid inheritance taxes.
But yea they’ve impeached their president out of office like 6 times in 20 years and thats a good thing.
